WNCC: VIGILANCE AMIDST SECURITY CHALLENGES
In response to the rising wave of insecurity across parts of Nigeria, the West Nigeria
Christian College (WNCC) has intensified its collaboration with security authorities,
community leaders, and other key stakeholders. Over the past weeks, the College has been
represented at multiple high-level security meetings—one attended by the President of the
College and another by a senior instructor—demonstrating our commitment to safeguarding
our campus, and the communities we serve.
This report summarizes these engagements and the key security insights received.
- Meeting with the Commissioner of Police
The President of WNCC was present at a strategic briefing convened by the Ogun State
Commissioner of Police, where heads of institutions and community leaders were invited to
discuss the current security climate and the preventive steps necessary to ensure safety.
Key highlights from the Commissioner’s meeting included:
Rumors of bandits in Ajebo were officially dispelled, with community leaders
confirming no presence of terrorist activity.
No New Intakes of Fulani herdsmen into communities that could pose risks of
infiltration.
Landlords and house owners were urged to identify and verify tenants, ensuring that
properties are not unknowingly leased to suspicious individuals.
Communities were encouraged to work closely with their local security networks
and neighborhood watch teams.
The need to pre-empt attacks through early reporting and strict vigilance in schools,
and communities.
Strengthened sensitization efforts, ensuring that people are vigilant at all times.
Encouraging institutions to work closely with community security networks to
improve intelligence flow.
The Commissioner emphasized that preventing insecurity begins with community alertness
and proactive collaboration between schools, families, communities, and local authorities. - Instructor’s Meeting with Security Personnel
A senior instructor of the College attended another high-level meeting involving police
intelligence officers, community security agents, and representatives of schools and
communities. The discussions further clarified:
The importance of sharing real-time intelligence about unusual activities around
schools.
The need for communities to identify early signs of infiltration.
Reinforcing cooperation between formal security structures and grassroots networks.
Encouraging all stakeholders to “alert and keep”—remaining on constant lookout
and retaining important observations for follow-up.
This meeting provided practical tools and strengthened communication channels that WNCC
is now applying across its campus.
Participants were also introduced to a dedicated security update app, enabling quicker,
more transparent communication between communities and police authorities.
- Strengthening WNCC’s Campus and Community Response
In light of these meetings, WNCC has begun integrating several key security measures:
Improved intelligence communication between staff and local police.
Enhanced community awareness among students, emphasizing personal safety and
responsible reporting.
Increased visibility of trusted local security actors around partner communities.
These actions ensure that WNCC remains not only a center of theological and moral training
but also a responsible partner in promoting peace and safety.
WNCC remains fully committed to supporting national and regional efforts to combat
insecurity. Through active participation in high-level security briefings and consistent
communication with police, community leaders, and grassroots networks, the College
continues to demonstrate collaboration, leadership and responsibility in safeguarding its
people and the communities connected to its mission.
Your continued support enables us to remain vigilant, proactive, and prepared as we navigate
the security challenges facing our nation.
