The Nigerian Christian Bible College (NCBC) continues to pioneer innovative ways of equipping future preachers, not only in biblical studies but also in practical life skills. Among these initiatives is the college’s thriving Piggery and Fish Farm, which was established two years ago to complement the training of student preachers.
The farm, located at the college premises, serves as both a practical training ground and will maintain a strong relationship with the college in the future. Students are given hands-on experience in animal husbandry and fish farming, enabling them to learn the value of self-sustenance while simultaneously preparing them for the ministry. This initiative is in line with NCBC’s vision to produce well-rounded ministers who can support their congregations spiritually and economically.
The piggery houses healthy, fast-growing breeds that are cared for under strict hygienic conditions, while the fish section features catfish farming, known for its profitability in the Nigerian market. Students are involved in every aspect of the farm’s training from feeding the animals to managing the day-to-day running of the farm. This real-world exposure to agriculture helps to foster a sense of responsibility and stewardship.
By integrating vocational training into its theological curriculum, the college is fostering a generation of preachers who are equipped to thrive both spiritually and economically, ensuring that their ministries are sustainable in the long run.
NCBC’s Piggery and Fish Farm is a testament to the institution’s commitment to holistic education, empowering future leaders for both church and community service.
