WNCC NEW SCHOOL YEAR: EMBRACING CHALLENGES AND CELEBRATING GROWTH
WNCC students and faculty are embarking on a journey bursting with opportunity and difficulties as the school year gets underway. A fresh set of experiences, objectives, and lessons that support both academic and personal development are brought about by the start of each school year. The year’s theme, “Seeking God,” might be understood as a dynamic interaction between accepting the difficulties that lie ahead and acknowledging the strides that have been made thus far.
The review of our identity and calling as Christians, the necessity of advancing our missions (those of WNCC and ACSF), input from congregations, and the moral fabric of our country all influenced this year’s theme. This theme was inspired by the constant struggle of living according to our calling in light of the demands made on us from all directions. Our convocation was the event where this year’s theme was revealed. Similar to other convocations, ours is an occasion to entrust the College’s operations to God, welcome new students, assess the College’s academic programs and their effects, and honor outstanding academic achievement.
The convocation speaker emphasized various guidelines for pursuing God during the theme unveiling. These included, but were not limited to, 1) obedience, 2) cultivating a personal relationship with God, 3) reading and studying scriptures, 4) persistency and consistency, and so on. Equal emphasis was placed on the promises given to individuals who seek God, which include: 1) discovering God, 2) being satisfied, 3) finding fulfillment, 4) developing a close relationship, etc.
Acknowledging and celebrating accomplishments, no matter how modest, is crucial. These accomplishments not only inspire but also reaffirm the need for tenacity and diligence. In view of this, three returning students received recognition for their outstanding academic performance, while new students were urged to be diligent in their academic pursuits.
The enrolment for the 2024–2025 academic year totals 124 students on campus and our study centres. Our student body comprises of individuals from 16 of the 36 states of Nigeria.
Having set aside time this school year to seek God, we pray for divine guidance for this task to be successfully accomplished.
