THE NIGERIAN CHRISTIAN BIBLE COLLEGE 70TH PLATINUM JUBILEE AND ANNUAL LECTURESHIP (SPECIAL EDITION)
The Nigerian Christian Bible College hosted her 70th Platinum Jubilee and Annual Lectureship August 6th-9th, 2024 with the theme “NCBC at 70: The Hindsight, the Insight, and the Foresight”.
The weeklong event started on August 3 with the arrival of five American Missionaries, Brother Henry Huffard, Rena and Chad Wagener, Rita and Mike Cochrane who were highly welcomed by the chiefs and women of the community with some traditional plays.
A Baccalaureate service was held on Sunday August 4 in honour of the graduating students. Etim Nyong gave the Minister’s charge.
On Monday 5th August, the graduands were treated to the provost banquest where the graduands ate with the faculty and the American visitors.
The lectureship fully commenced on the 6th August with unique keynote presentations from seasoned ministers. Joe Obinna, provost of the College analyzed the theme examining the what, the how and the why of NCBC. Mike Cochrane spoke on my spirituality, legacy and posterity. Henry Huffard handled NCBC in retrospect-legacy of our founders. Chad Wagner spoke on NCBC in Focus, the present and future.
There were ladies workshop on Women’s role in Mission work by Rita Cochrane and Rena Wagner. Youth and children classes also featured prominently.
There were so many colourful events such as the pig roast which was the first of its kind. The pig was slaughtered, roasted and served with delicious meals to more than 3,000 guests.
The platinum jubilee celebration was chaired by Engr. Nseabasi Patrick which also featured award ceremony and fund raising.
Consistent African missionary Award was given to Henry Huffard.
Outstanding African Christian service Award went to Mike and Rita Cochrane.
Rena and Chad Wagner received African Mission Sustainers Award.
Anthony Norwood was given African Mission, media star award. Engr. NseAbasi Patrick received outstanding Christian Service Award, Post Humus African School Service Award was given to Late Williecato among others, two buildings were commissioned Palmers House and the vultee Hall and the senataph was unveiled. About 2 million naira was raised by the Nigerian brethren.
The event climaxed on the 9th August with the convocation ceremony where 29 students convoked and were awarded Diploma in theology.
Dr. Biodun Owolabi; president of WNCC gave the convocation lecture.
An average attendance of 7500 persons and 66 baptisms were recorded.
